11.25.09 Robby's Pond

We had to maintain our Thanksgiving week hunt with all the Hudspeth boys, but this time the hunting was status quo for the year. We shot a measly 4 birds, however I will say 5 got out of our decoy spread, 3 by way of loading crooked shells into the guns and 2 on a shot called a little too early from somebody down the line:) Cami wasn't great today, whats up with my dog?

THE PEEPS: Hudspeth boys, Brandon, Me
THE BIRDS: 4 Gadwall

11.23.09 Robby's Pond

Last minute decision to hang with John and Graham last night proved to be a pretty fun hunt. The fog was extremely thick so birds just appeared in front of us and we shot every bird that came in. A bunch of Gadwall flew over us but didn't even look at us, but we shot our first mallards of the year and they were huge! Cami redeemed herself some, she was quiet and didn't jump. I always enjoy hunting with those boys!

THE PEEPS: John, Graham, Me
THE BIRDS: 5 - GWT, Mallard, Gadwall
THE LOCATION: Robby's Pond

11.17.09 Roberts Big Pond

THE SCOUT: Tomorrow we are heading over to Robert's big pond in hopes of killing about 8-12 birds would be my guess. We just found out that a tenant of his is jumping our honey hole and might answer the question as to why our scouts are coming up empty. Hopefully tomorrow we can kill a few. Today was the first cold day of the season, but not even bellow 40 yet!

THE HUNT: Well, we had a decent number of birds come in and came away with mostly widgeon. Cami was awful and cost us at least 2 birds with her jumping. This might have been her last hunt ever, we'll see. The North wind was great on the big pond, the North pond had nothing on it.

THE PEEPS: Brandon, Me
THE BIRDS: 7 - Widgeon, GWT, Shoveler
THE LOCATION: Robert's Big Pond

11.14.09 Fanning Farm

Went deer huting, got board so I went and checked out our newly formed creek and found about a dozen of my favorite birds... the Wood Duck. So, I picked out one I wanted on my wall, stalked him and landed him in my freezer:)

THE PEEPS: Me
THE BIRDS: 1; Wood Duck
THE LOCATION: Fanning Creek

11.16.09 COD Land

Brandon and I had an hour to hunt before work so we did. The frustration continues, no birds decoyed, shot a few on pass shots and smoked a cheap cigar.

THE PEEPS: Brandon, Me
THE BIRDS: 4 GWT, Coot
THE LOCATION: COD Land entrance

11.10.09 Denton Land

Great time rekindling some old friendships with Luke and Justin. This spot was hoppin, but the pressure has pushed them on. Cami started whining today, I almost left her there:)

THE PEEPS: Luke T., Justin Q., Me
THE BIRDS: 2; Mallard
THE LOCATION: COD flooded area by tracks

11.7.09 Wills Point

THE SCOUT: Saturday were heading to a pond in Wills Point and if we don't slaughter birds I might be tempted to dust off the ol golf clubs again and do something that's "in season".

THE HUNT: No birds to be seen, very rare for this spot. It's always a good trip when you end up at the Blue Bird though. Great to hang out with those fellas.

THE PEEPS: Brandon, Greg, Me
THE BIRDS: 0
THE MOSQUITOS: 17
THE LOCATION: Gassiot Farm

11.5.09 City of Denton Land

THE SCOUT: Heading out to some city land tomorrow... never been so sort of a scout/hunt. Not expecting much just looking for a new spot to hunt since the birds aren't on any of ours. Hopefully will have some fun with the BPfaff!

THE HUNT: Played around and scouted mostly, found some fun spots. Interesting place and not too many people hunting it.

THE PEEPS: Brandon, Me
THE BIRDS: 2
THE LOCATION: City of Denton Land

11.3.09 Lewisville

For some reason Brandon and I love toolin around in this creek looking for birds. We took the boat to Lewisville and shot the only 2 birds that came in. Cami loved gettin her duck on for the first time this year. Not many birds around here yet.
